I think it displays common grace so well. Matthew 9:13 '"...Go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."' Those who think themselves righteous will never acknowledge the grace of God (Romans 1:20). Even though his grace abounds, they never bother to look.
I think it also displays saving grace in an excellent manner. It reveals that in our depravity God has so graciously saved us. Luke 7:47 '"...Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven--for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little."'
