Welcome to the Sixties Baby

Check out what you get when you throw out Biblical Truth and allow human wisdom (the flesh basically) to direct your views and beliefs.

This is Doug Pagitt's church Solomon's Porch in Minnesota

Welcome to the sixties again baby.

Wow...far out man. Groovy. If it feels good, get a couch. The ink blots on the wall are a real trip.

Peace and love.

Doug,

It's a grief to see things like this. My battle is not with you or the people at your missional community. My battle is against spiritual wickedness in high places.

It is sad to see leaders like you not use the armor of God but rather operate in your own power. It no longer becomes a church but starts to look like a sixties hippie beatnik hang-out.

I would encourage you to get back to Biblical standards. The armor of God would be a good place to begin. This would help you avoid the fiery darts of the enemy.

I know this may sound a bit simple but the Word of God is pretty clear.

Doug, you have a greater responsibility as a teacher. God holds teachers and leaders more responsible than others as it says in James 3:1.

Anybody can do this hippie feel-good stuff, not just anybody can stand for God's Truth. It is for the few who are willing to "humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you" James 1:21 says.

I don't mean anything malicious to you or your people.

If you don't mean anything malicious then you should probably avoid punctuating your post with sarcastic comments like, "Welcome to the sixties again baby."

That kind of thing makes it look like you're just taking pot shots at people from the anonymity of your blog instead of reacting out of genuine concern.

Woh, insightful. And this means? Was this supposed to let you know Kenny that Doug has got his eye on you?

Whew, it must have been a total shock when this hit the Internet, huh? Um, considering the fact that Doug literally sat for the interviews.

The video camera might have been a clue it was to be recorded, and considering it was done by a member of Solomon's Porch there just could be the slightest chance that Doug endorses this, ah, his own church.

Do they really think we're so stupid?

Where did Mr. Pagitt express surprise that it had recorded? It looked to me like he was thanking Kenny for reminding him that it was out there to watch.

If he does think you're stupid it might have something to do with your reading comprehension.

Also, I hope the irony of "Was this supposed to let you know Kenny that Doug has got his eye on you" wasn't lost on anybody.

Well Patrick, you might be wise to keep your nose out of things which don't concern you. For you said, "It looked to me like he was thanking Kenny for reminding him that it was out there to watch."

To amend your next statement, "If we think you're ignorant here it might have something to do with your own reading comprehension."

That video has been all over the Internet in multiple places recently e.g. A Little Leaven and Slice of Laodicea. And each time I have read Doug come on and say virtually the same nothing he said above.

And friend, if Doug really is that forgetful, then we sure don't want him resposible for teaching people things which concern their eternal destination.

How would me not following Doug Pagitt around the internet like you do be classified as a reading comprehension problem on my part?

My comments were based solely on this comment section and the only comments I've ever seen from Mr. Pagitt (and your charming response to them).

And while I'm mentioning your response, if your complaint was that he was being disingenuous about not having seen the video in months then I don't understand why you didn't address that in your initial oost instead of going on and on about him pretending not to know he was being recorded?

If you're gonna use the internet as your own little electronic arguing box you might want to look into taking some debate classes or maybe making yourself an outline of points you'd like to address. Changing your argument from post to post makes you seem shrill, unfocused, and vendetta driven.

These past few comments are more adhominum than anything. I pray we can agree that the issues of our fight are over truth and not sniping each others weaknesses.
