Add Another Campolo Quote...

Already?

In THIS POST from May 5th, I made a comment at the end about finding more Campolo quotes to convince someone to avoid Tony Campolo. I had no idea I would stumble upon another outrageous quote from Campolo today. This should cause any christian to stop and consider... where in the world is this guy coming from with comments such as these?

You can read the interviews yourself, they are very short. There are two parts. Later we'll take a look at some of the heretical things uttered by Brian McLaren which in some cases are even more confusing than Campolo's. The interview referred to below is of McLaren and Campolo together.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What I think we can say is, and this is where I get into trouble, I’m not so sure that when this life is over that all possibilities for salvation are over."
-Tony Campolo
Out of Ur "Brian McLaren’s Inferno: the provocative church leader explains his view of hell"-May 05, 2006
This stuff is getting hard to keep up with.
Wasn't it D.L. Moody who said something along the lines "If you think you know everything about the Bible then maybe you think you could have written it... and then you're in danger of thinking you are God"?
I applaud people like Brian and Tony for pushing me to keep searching; to continue striving to grow closer to Him and His heart.
There was an interesting excerpt on the blog teampyro.blogspot.com by Dan Phillips:
ADMIRING THE FLAWED FOR THEIR FLAWS: We tend too much to see the one who doubts, challenges, even rejects fundamental truths as being a deep, wonderful, fascinating individual. Many swoon over such an one, treating him like a China egg, admiring, and perhaps wishing to be more like him. Surely this deep doubter towers over those who, perhaps by contrast, just cloddishly and oafishly take God at His Word. If spotlights and recognition and craving for "respectablity" and career-advancement lure him to abandon his former (Biblical) beliefs, many will ooh and ahh at how he has "grown," and use him to bludgeon those stubborn knuckle-draggers who refuse to "grow" similarly.
Kathy, that excerpt was great!
That certainly seems like what is happening.
First, while you were sleeping last night, 30,000 kids died of starvation or diseases related to malnutrition. Second, most of you don't give a s—. What's worse is that you're more upset with the fact that I said s— than the fact that 30,000 kids died last night.
Anonymous,
I guess that statement from Campolo was supposed to "shock" us. It really doesn't. I heard him say this at a festival in the 80s. This is typical, vintage Campolo. This is childish. This and shows that Campolo would rather choose to display himself as some icon of pious virtue (in his mind looking down at all of us feeble spiritually immature weaklings) more than his desire to pursue a holy life, keeping his filthy mouth clean and trusting God's sovereignty in obedience to the great commision.
